Help Save Lives

Maricopa County is only required to hold a lost or found stray for 72 hours!!!

After their 72 hour hold is up, they are evaluated for adoption and if they do not pass are at risk for being euthanized.

When posting lost dogs - be as descriptive as possible

When posting found dogs - leave out any distinguishing information that will help in finding the rightful owner

If you have taken in a found dog - please make sure to keep them separate from any current pets and children to avoid any illnesses being transferred or accidents from happening. If you do introduce them, it should be after a few days of monitoring their behavior and only while supervised.

Lost or Found a dog?

There are several groups that work 24/7 to match lost/found dogs throughout the valley with intake pictures from local shelters. Be sure to post information for your lost or found dog ASAP with a clear picture and accurate contact information.

First - take the dog to any local Veterinarian or PetsMart Banfield Hospital to be scanned for a microchip.

Post Lost/Found Ads on the following Facebook pages:

https://www.facebook.com/LostDogsArizona

https://www.facebook.com/groups/Straydar/

https://www.facebook.com/groups/LDOAZ/

Posting the lost or found dog on Craigslist is also a good tool, but BEWARE of individuals falsely claiming to be the owner of the dog. Proof of ownership, medical records and pictures should be provided.

Create flyers to hang in the neighborhood where found and take some to your local shelter to add in the Lost and Found book.

Visit the shelters DAILY to see the new intakes. Descriptions on the intake websites may not always be accurate.
